How is tax calculated?
Merch.link is the seller of every item on our stores, so we collect sales tax, not the artist. Tax is calculated at checkout from your shipping address, at the rate for where your order is delivered, including local district taxes. It appears as its own Tax line once you enter your address, and again on your receipt and order page.
Tax is added on top of the item price. The price the store set is what the item costs; tax never comes out of the artist's share.
Is shipping taxed?
Shipping is listed separately, at what our print partner charges. Whether shipping is taxed depends on your state's rules. When it is, that tax is included in the Tax line.
No Tax line?
Then no tax was charged on your order: we only collect tax in states where we're registered to. We never add tax to the price or roll it into shipping.
Refunds
A full refund includes any tax you paid.
